Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

Identifies a protein present in both the cytoplasm and nucleus of the following: immature normal T-cells; T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (in which TCL-1 overexpression due to chromosomal translocation is the key pathogenetic event); a variety of B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders including CLL/SLL; and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.TCL-1 protein function has been studied predominately in T-cells, in which it has been demonstrated to bind to the AKT protooncogene and to enhance both AKT enzymatic activity and translocation from cytoplasm to nucleus.
