Tau

Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

Tau protein is a highly soluble microtubule-associated protein (MAP), which is most abundant in the neurons of central nervous system. It is mainly used in the evaluation of neurofibrillary tangles / plaques to assist in the differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders, including the Alzheimer's disease (Tauopathy).
