SATB2 is a sensitive and specific immunohistochemical marker for colorectal adenocarcinoma, including medullary carcinoma. It is also a sensitive and specific marker for osteoblastic differentiation, and is useful in bone and soft tissue pathology, such as in the diagnosis of osteosarcoma and its distinction from other histologic mimics (e.g., when osteoid is scant or difficult to distinguish from collagen fiber).
