Melan-A/Ki-67

Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

This two-color combination of the proliferative marker Ki-67 and the melanoma marker Melan-A (Mart-1) allows assessment of mitotic activity in melanocytic lesions. This can be helpful in differential diagnosis of atypical nevi as well as a prognostic factor in melanoma.
