Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

INI-1 gene, a tumor suppressor gene, is mapped to chromosome 22q11.2. The loss of nuclear expression of INI-1 protein helps to identify a unique subset of tumors, including malignant rhaboid tumors of infancy, both renal and extra-renal, atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors of CNS, epithelioid sarcomas, both the classic and proximal types, renal medullary carcinomas, and a subset of epithelioid malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors, myoepithelial carcinomas, and extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcomas.
