CD31

Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

CD31 is a single chain type 1 transmembrane protein, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed on the surface of endothelium, and is a sensitive and specific marker for vascular lesions / neoplasms. CD31 is also expresssed on the surface of megakaryocytes, platelets, and some other hematopoietic cells.
