Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

Antibody identifies Lewis Y blood group related antigen. It is reactive to various types of adenocarcinoma, while negative in reactive mesothelial cells and a great majority of mesothelioma. It is useful in the work-up of fluid samples, such as pleural fluid and ascites, for differentiating metastatic adenocarcinoma from reactive and/or neoplastic mesothelial cells. It is best to used in a panel of antibodies, including Ber-EP4 and MOC-31, among others.
