Assessment of ATRX loss by immunohistochemical staining captures the majority of mutations, indicating that the use of immunohistochemical testing in routine neuropathology diagnostics gives a reasonable sensitivity. ATRX mutation is also detected in neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, and pancreatic neuro-endocrine tumors .
