Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

A pituitary hormone expressed in corticotroph cells of the anterior pituitary, and used mainly in the subclassification of pituitary adenomas. Best to be used as a part of a panel of markers for pituiatry hormones (e.g. thryoid stimulating hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, leuteinizing hormone, prolactin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, and growth hormone).
