Amanda Doherty, MD

Dr. Amanda Doherty is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and has subspecialty experience in Surgical Pathology and Liver and Gastrointestinal Pathology.

Dr. Doherty is an experienced pathologist who has held a number of leadership roles including Chair of the Regional GI/Liver Pathology Service for The Permanente Medical Group and serving as clinical laboratory medical director. She has also served on a number of hospital committees including the executive committee, along with others focused on laboratory utilization, operations and physician leadership development.

She attended medical school at Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Doherty completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from San Francisco General Hospital where she was Chief Resident and where she also completed fellowships in Surgical Pathology, and Liver and GI Pathology.

Dr. Doherty co-authored the chapters “Autoimmune Hepatitis and Overlap Syndromes” and “Acute and Chronic Viral Hepatitis” inĀ Practical Interpretation of Liver Biopsy, Volume 1. She has also participated in a number of original research projects on colorectal cancer that has been published in journals such as Gut and Gastroenterology.
