Dr. Shane Anderson Receives CHI Franciscan’s Outstanding Provider Award at Highline Medical Center

Congratulations to Dr. Shane Anderson, who has been recognized by CHI Franciscan as an Outstanding Provider at Highline Medical Center. Earlier this year, Dr. Anderson was also recognized by the CHI Franciscan Quality Department for exemplifying one of CHI’s organizational core values – Excellence.

Dr. Anderson was recognized as a “champion going above and beyond to improve safety and care” in the area of C. diff prevention and overall quality. His efforts include meeting with the quality program manager and other staff weekly to discuss quality strategies, reviewing and providing education on best practices for C. diff prevention, researching and disseminating articles on prevention, presenting on quality to the Medical Executive Committee and educating provider/staff on quality improvement and initiatives.

Award recipients are selected each quarter by Highline leadership, staff, and clinicians. As noted in his nomination:

“Dr. Anderson makes such a difference here at Highline. He is always engaged and available to support lab staff and providers. We appreciate his timely and enthusiastic feedback. He is actively involved in many areas of hospital and medical staff leadership, including Chairing our Performance Excellence Steering Committee, serving as Chief of Pathology and Medical Director of the laboratory, functioning as Executive Treasurer of the Medical Staff, leading Tumor Boards, and serving as the Physician Champion for very successful C.diff reduction efforts at Highline. In addition, Dr. Anderson participated in our Lean for Leaders program and is very active in ongoing infection prevention and quality improvement initiatives throughout the hospital. He balances all of this with a heavy pathology workload and is routinely at work very early and often leaves very late. Despite all his obligations, Dr. Anderson is quick to help, supportive of others, and always pleasant to talk to. We are grateful to have Dr. Anderson here at Highline and we appreciate all he does to assist our patients, staff and providers.”

Dr. Anderson also serves on the CellNetix Board of Directors. He is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Dermatopathology, as well as fellowship-trained in Immunohistochemistry, Gastrointestinal Pathology and Surgical Pathology.
