Dr. Smitha Mruthyunjayappa is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and has subspecialty experience in Breast Pathology, Genitourinary Pathology and Surgical Pathology.

She attended medical school at Kasturba Medical College and also earned a MD Pathology from Kempe Gowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India. She completed both her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and fellowship training in Surgical pathology with a focus on Breast and Genitourinary Pathology, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Mruthyunjayappa has co-authored articles in various publications, including BMJ Case Reports, Academic Radiology, Human Pathology, Laboratory Investigation and Oncotarget. She has also presented at a number of conferences including for the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the College of America Pathologists and the American College of Surgeons.
