Dr. Simrell received his M.D. from the University of Florida in Gainesville, then spent as year there as a NIH Postdoctoral Trainee in Cell Biology and Immunobiology of Cancer. He then joined the National Cancer Institute Laboratory of Pathology In Bethesda Maryland, completing his pathology residency and hematopathology fellowship training. He then joined the faculty at the University of Washington as Assistant Professor of Pathology and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Simrell joined Northwest Pathology Services in 1993, and became part of CellNetix when the two entities merged in 2008.
Dr. Simrell is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Hematopathology. In addition to his subspecialty interest in in hematopathology, Dr. Simrell has broad interests and expertise in general surgical pathology.
