Mark A. Edgar, M.D.

Dr. Edgar is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology and holds additional sub-specialty expertise in Soft Tissue/Bones/Joints Pathology. Dr. Edgar has a special interest in tumors of the nervous system, bone and soft tissue, and his principal expertise is in the diagnosis of tumors and tumor-like conditions affecting these areas.

 

Dr. Edgar completed both his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and his Medical Degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He finished a rotating internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario followed by a residency at Dalhousie University and a two-year fellowship in Neuropathology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.

Dr. Edgar has been an Associate Professor on the faculty of Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and most recently was Associate Clinical Member at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Edgar has been involved in several collaborative research projects, including work on an animal model for the direct infusion of chemotherapeutic drugs into the brain stem, and a study of arachnoid sampling in pediatric posterior fossa tumors. He is also interested in the application of electron microscopy (EM) to the diagnosis and sub classification of brain tumors. Dr. Edgar is regularly invited to speak on neuropathology topics at academic medical centers and national meetings.
