Pediatric Pathology

Pediatric pathology encompasses the study and diagnosis of human disease manifested in the embryo/fetus, infant, child, and adolescent. This is accomplished through the modalities of surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, and laboratory medicine. Emphasis is placed on those aspects of human pathology distinctive of the pediatric and perinatal age range, such as the diagnosis of neoplastic, metabolic, and infectious disorders unique to this age group, and study of congenital anomalies. Methodologies such as immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, flow cytometry, and others are employed. Our lead pathologist for pediatric pathology is board certified in this sub-specialty area.
