Genitourinary PathologyOur sub-specialist genitourinary pathologists are experienced in evaluating all areas of genitourinary pathology, including post-radiation prostate biopsies, which may be very challenging. Our genitourinary pathologists are experienced in classifying renal neoplasms with the appropriate use of immunohistochemistry and special stains. Prostate core biopsy evaluation is supported by the use of the triple cocktail immunohistochemistry stain for basal cells (p63 and high molecular weight keratin) and P504 (AMACR) on difficult cases. Bladder neoplasms are classified by the most recent International Society of Urologic Pathology/World Health Organization classification. CellNetix's extensive quality assurance program ensures that prostatectomy specimens are evaluated with a standardized protocol to ensure accurate staging and complete margin assessment, and that all new cancers are reviewed by a second pathologist for quality assurance. In addition, our genitourinary pathologists actively participate in genitourinary multidisciplinary cancer conferences, and provide outside pathology consultation for many programs. CellNetix supports the genitourinary programs of its hospitals (including Swedish Medical Center), which together treat more than 1,200 new prostate cancers per year, larger than any other program in the Northwest.
