GCDFP-15

Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue block or cell block, or 1 unstained charged slide for each test requested plus 3-4 additional unstained slides cut at 4 microns. Adequate space on each slide for control tissue is required.

GCDFP-15 isa 15 kDa glycoprotein found in apocrine cysts of breast. It is also present in lacrimal, ceruminous, Moll's glands, and serous cells of salivary glands. Thus, in addition to breast cancer, GCDFP-15 may be positive in a subset of skin adnexal and salivary gland tumors. It has been used as a relatively specific marker for breast carcinoma (with a sensitivity of 60-70%), and best in conjunction with other markers, such as mammaglobin.
